Description
At its meeting on June 29, 2026, Kitchener City Council adopted the City’s new Water Allocation Policy, which establishes a transparent framework for approving water servicing agreements and protects housing, essential services, and jobs across Kitchener. On May 6, 2026 Waterloo Regional Council approved a new Water Allocation policy that will govern how the Region allocates water to Area Municipalities. The City of Kitchener water allocation policy and by-law is based on a prioritization framework. Servicing provisions were added to the zoning by-law to implement the Policy.
What this kind of application is
A zoning by-law amendment changes what the zoning allows on a property: the uses, the height, the density or the setbacks. Council decides it after a statutory public meeting, and anyone can comment before then.
